Fatherhood work has begun

In January 2026, a new, free service for fathers with an international family history was launched in Cologne as part of the state's „Fatherhood Work“ funding program.

After extensive training by experts at the Municipal Integration Center, three mentors talk to fathers in several languages:

Education of the children
Life in the family
Problems and questions in everyday life
Other topics that are important to the participants

The meetings take place approximately once a month.

Father-child events and excursions are also planned.

Elementary school GGS Garthestraße new in the network „School without racism -
On October 10, 2025, Garthestraße Community Primary School in Riehl joined the „School without Racism - School with Courage“ and „School of Diversity“ networks. At the atmospheric admission ceremony, pupils presented contributions on the topic of diversity that they had previously submitted to an internal school competition. These included their own poems and stories and expressive posters. The school's sponsor is André Schulze Isfort, President of the StattGarde Colonia Ahoj carnival club. The Courage Network aims to combat racism and discrimination and to promote the appreciation of diversity.

Project launch „Culturally sensitive advice for Cologne senior citizens“ at BFmF e.V. and InterKultur
On 27 May 2025, the Cologne City Council approved a bill for the financial support of migrant organizations (MO) for the years 2025 and 2026. The aim of this funding programme is to support the important work of migrant organizations in Cologne, which make a significant contribution to social cohesion and integration. Migrant organizations are committed to the interests of Cologne residents with an international family history, who now make up at least 40 % of the population. At the same time, they promote peaceful and respectful coexistence in urban society. The funding program includes various thematic focuses, including culturally sensitive advice for senior citizens in Cologne. As part of a selection process, the migrant organizations BFmF e.V. and InterKultur e.V. were awarded funding for „culturally sensitive advice for Cologne senior citizens“ and were able to start their advisory activities in August and September 2025. Network meeting "School without racism - school with courage"
The „School without Racism - School with Courage“ network meeting for teachers and school social workers from primary and special schools in the administrative district of Cologne took place on October 7, 2025. The main topic of this event was „Democracy (values) education“ in the classroom. Lina Kathe from 10drei e.V. presented the 10drei approach and the 10drei workshop formats. There was then an opportunity to try out individual methods and exercises in practice and to talk about examples of best practice and the integration of the formats into everyday school life.
