Social-emotional learning is particularly important for newly immigrated pupils in order to feel safe, build relationships and settle into their new school life. In practice, however, support is often hampered by language barriers, as many programs are heavily language-based and do not reach all learners equally. We therefore cordially invite teachers at secondary schools and vocational colleges in Cologne who work with newly immigrated children and young people to our series of workshops on language-sensitive social-emotional learning. Together we will try out practical methods and materials that can be used regardless of language requirements. We are offering this two-part workshop series in cooperation with SchlaU-Werkstatt, an experienced partner in working with new immigrant learners.
