The RomBuK's work focuses on racism-critical educational work against antiziganism and on supporting empowerment, with particular emphasis on projects by, for and with Cologne's Roma and Romnja as well as Sinti and Sintize people. The aim is to advocate equal participation of Roma and Romnja as well as Sinti and Sintize and to counteract antiziganism.
With a variety of educational offers, such as workshops, events, training courses, conferences, projects, the magazine Nevipe and targeted public relations work, society is to be sensitized to antiziganist images and practices in order to enable critical reflection and thus the deconstruction of racist thought structures. You can find the latest issue of Nevipe here.

Library
The library has around 5000 media. In accordance with its focus - the history and present of Rom and Romnja as well as Sinti and Sintize in Germany and Europe - it also has an extensive collection of audiovisual media in addition to academic publications and current journal holdings. The diverse collection of works of fiction by members of the minority is unique.
Archive and documentation center
The archive and documentation center preserves, among other things, graphics, picture postcards, photographs and documents of the civil rights movement. When it was founded, it was supported by foundations and was able to expand its holdings with valuable bequests. The resulting collection is unique and is now one of the most important in Europe. The main task of the archive and documentation center is to collect the memories of the minority, in particular the narratives and subjective experiences. The aim is to preserve the voices of, for example, the civil rights movement by, with and for Roma and Sinti and Sinti and Sintize and to ensure that important events from the perspective of the minority are not forgotten.
