The Municipal Integration Center cordially invites all teachers at Cologne primary schools who work with newly arrived children and young people to the event „DaZ teaching and language support through images“.
This online training course focuses on the use of visual materials for DAZ teaching or language development: whether it be picture books, photos, postcards, calendar pages, advertisements – all of these help you develop vocabulary with children, find speaking opportunities or initiate small writing activities. The suggestions you receive during the training are suitable for use with younger or older learners, with beginners and advanced learners, and can also be used well with those who have not yet learned to read.
At the event, you will receive a wealth of ideas that you can use in any subject/vocabulary area in DAZ-supported instruction and regular classroom instruction. From these, you can create your own language development card with image materials tailored to your target audience. How about talking picture puzzles, photo manipulation, or a picture card relay race?
You will be provided with an extensive digital handout containing instructions for using visual material in language teaching, as well as access to a Padlet with materials, tips, and information about DAZ teaching.
