Literacy training for newly immigrated pupils in lower secondary school - workshop for teachers

How can newly immigrated young people be taught literacy in regular lessons and how can their literacy skills be specifically promoted - even if they have different learning prerequisites? This workshop is aimed at teachers who work in preparatory classes or German as a second language contexts at lower secondary level and are looking for practicable ways to deal with great heterogeneity in literacy acquisition. The focus is on diagnostic approaches for determining literacy levels as well as methodological and didactic approaches for differentiated support. Materials that can be used flexibly in the classroom will be presented and tested together.
